Patterns for Graduate Jar - Words of Wisdom

Illustration for tassel

Painting instructions for head and face

**Nose:  There is a small hole in the Smoothfoam ball.  I squeezed a small amount of low melt glue into the hole to form a small nose.  If you do this step, make sure to do it before starting to paint.  Give it time to harden before painting.

Face:  Basecoat Fleshtone
Eyes:  Apply large dot of White.  Let dry.  Apply a smaller dot of Black.  Let dry.  Highlight with a tiny dot of white.  One on each eye.
Hair:  Paint Brown

Use the xtra fine point black permanent marker for the mouth and for giving definition to the hair and eyes.

Celebrating June and Grads with Joy!

Next month is JUNE!  There will be graduations taking place all over the country.  This blog will be about creating a piece of decor that can be seen wherever there will be a celebration. The home entryway, food table, gift table (or other), are all great spots to display this fun and easy signage for the graduation party.  Add some balloons and this sign will be the center of attention.  Well, next to the graduate, that is!

You will need:

Deflecto Sign Holder:  Wet erase board with stand
Joy Alphabet Embroidered Letters and Numbers:  2015, 3" high, self-adhesive numbers; 1" high letters, White and Royal Blue

Glitter: Royal Blue (or in the appropriate school color)
Craft Glue
Adhesive Trim:  Faux rhinestone
Clothespins:  4 spring action wooden
Ink Pad:  Black
Wedge Sponge

1.  Apply black ink to each clothespin using the wedge sponge.

2.  After the ink is dry, apply the self-adhesive trim to one side of each clothespin.  Leave a space at the top of each clip to attach the letters.

3.  Remove the release paper backing from the bottom of the number two.  Leave the remaining release paper in place.  Center and adhere the number to the top of the clothespin.  Repeat for each number.

4.  Remove the wet erase board from the base.  Adhere the self-adhesive trim around the bottom of the base, the ends (seam) in the back.  Apply tacky glue to the top of the base and to the sides working in one section at a time.  Apply the glitter following manufacturer's instructions.  You can apply glitter in the appropriate school colors.  Shake off excess and allow to dry.

5.  Center and adhere the embroidered letters and the star to the sign as shown.

6.  Attach the clothespins  (2015) across the top of the sign to finish.  The embroidered numbers and letters are available in various school colors.  The white letters and numbers can be dyed to desired color.

Hope you got some inspiration here today.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take time to enjoy the small blessings in life and

Etchall Project - Home Decor piece for a wedding

Hi friends! Welcome to the blog today!  We have a fun up-cycle window project to share!

My friend Cindy has a son who is soon to be married.  I have had a large two pane window that I have been wanting to etch.  It will be NEXT.  Cindy had one she wanted to etch for her son's wedding.  We took the plunge and got it done.  I hope the pictorial of the process will inspire you to do great things with Etchall.  We feel like we rocked it and we are ready to do more.  My windows are next and I will show those off when they are finished.  We both recommend you have a friend help you with a larger project like this.  Not only do you need each other's help....it also made the whole process a lot more fun.  It was a beautiful day and we took our project out to the deck once we got the letters cut.  My dog Tucker was there to oversee us as we worked. (Played!)

We used etchall, the best etching cream on the planet, and the etchmask.  You can purchase these products here:  http://etchall.com/ We had some contact paper in case we ran out of etchmask.  It works in a pinch.

If you have any questions about our adventure, please leave it in the comments below.  This didn't make us experts, but we got a handle on working on a larger surface for sure!

Notice we went from blue cardstock letters, to green.  We ended up making the letters bigger.

I hope you were inspired to "etch" after viewing this tutorial.  We had a great time up-cycling this old window and love the way it turned out.  We know that Cindy's son and new daughter-in-law will love it too!  They are getting married on Mother's Day.  How perfect!

Make sure to take time to enjoy the small blessings in life; &

Live Life with a Flourish!

Sparkle & Shine! Teacher Appreciation Gift

May is about Bling!  Our Designer Craft Connection group are collectively showing off some bling for this month's blog hop!

Did you know that this is "National Teacher Appreciation Week"?  Yep! May 4th through the 8th.  I think our teachers deserve a little "bling", don't you?  With that in mind, I put together a quick and easy gift jar with a fun card to go with it that any teacher would enjoy!  It is up to you to decide what to put in the jar.  I added some new chalk to mine.  A piece of handmade jewelry, wrapped candies or chocolate would also be fun.

To go through the blogs today, look for the blue Designer Craft Connection button on each designers page and click on that.  It will take you forwards and backwards through the blogs.  Hope you have fun and get inspired to "Bling it up"!

Apply adhesive strips to the back of the wet erase tag.

Use a rubber stamp for the message inside the card or write your own!

Hope you got a little inspiration here today.  If you don't have any children in school, you can always adapt this design concept for another special day or holiday.  The wet erase tags and the chalkmarkers are from Deflecto.  http://www.deflecto.com/craft/   The Adhesive Trims were purchased at Michaels.

I hope you enjoy the small blessings along the way &
Live Life with a Flourish!
